Placenta Encapsulation is a modern take on an ancient tradition. After birth, the placenta is dehydrated, grinded into a powder and put into capsules to be used as postpartum supplements.

What is Placenta Encapsulation?

What are the benefits?

The placenta is an amazing organ! It is the only organ our bodies produce and then discard once its purpose is fulfilled. While in the womb, the placenta assists you in the growth of your baby. The placenta provides blood, hormones and key nutrients to the baby and mother. Once the placenta is delivered, our bodies take a while to begin producing those hormones without the help of the placenta. By ingesting the placenta, our bodies are continuing to take in those nutrients and hormones making for an easier postpartum transition. The placenta aids in hormone balancing, milk production and supply, lessens the risk of "baby blues" which can lead to postpartum depression, promotes quicker healing, increases mother's energy and provides an overall feeling of health and happiness postpartum.

How is it ingested?

Capsule is the most common method of ingestion. Other options include tincture, smoothie, meals, truffles and lactation cookies. More details are listed here.
